Thank you for considering the National Army Museum as a home for your taonga.
The National Army Museum Te Mata Toa showcases our nation’s military history, and we recognise our responsibility as kaitiaki | guardian of our collection on behalf of the public. We rely on the generosity of New Zealanders to enable us to tell the stories of the New Zealand Army, how these stories have shaped our identity as a nation, and our place in the world.
Although we appreciate this generosity, the National Army Museum is unable to accept every donation offered to the collection. We have a Collection Policy that helps guide our consideration of items offered, looking at their relevance to the development of the collection, collection holdings we already have, available storage space, and staff resourcing. This means that sometimes, after careful assessment by our Collection Acquisitions Committee, we may have to decline an offer of donation.
We are unable to accept unsolicited donations, so before you drop off or send us any items, please fill in a Collection Donation Offer form and wait for our response to your offer.
