Memories of War and Peace
A musical concert with a twist! ‘Memories of War and Peace’ was held at St David’s Church in Taihape, an event inspired by the exhibition Farewell Zealandia: Forgotten Kiwi Songs of WWI. The Arcadian Singers from Taihape met with the Take Note Singers of Wellington for a musical afternoon, performing a mixture of songs including a selection of military-related tunes. Curator David Dell entertained the crowd with background stories and performances of songs featured in the exhibition and Col.(Rtd.) Ray Seymour recited extracts from WWI letters and diaries, accompanying the musical offerings with our soldiers’ voices from the past.
Farewell Zealandia: Forgotten Kiwi Songs of WWI will be on display a the National Army Museum until 24 October 2016.
