The Quartermaster Store specialises in military related products and gift ideas as well as New Zealand and local related gifts. It is located adjacent to the Home Fires Cafe or via our Online Shop.
The museum’s cafe is open from 9 am to 4 pm daily.
There is an iSITE located within the museum, which offers a free booking service for all your accommodation, transport and activity needs for any trip within New Zealand. The iSITE is run by the Ruapehu District Council and also provides visitor information.

The Museum is committed to sustainability, and has 2 electric charging stations courtesy of PowerCo and ChargeNet. These are located in the front carpark of the museum.
The museum has free wifi for all customers.
Food and drink is not permitted within the museum galleries.
The museum does not permit bags into its galleries – except small handbags and camera bags, or bags for medical reasons. We recommend your bags are left in your vehicle, or with our staff at the admission desk.
The museum permits non-commercial photography (including flash), and video recording using hand-held equipment throughout its galleries. For commercial photos and filming please contact us.
The museum has a designated interactive space for children which includes a number of hands-on activities including a trench, puzzles and a Q store full of authentic Army uniforms from different periods that children can dress up in.
There are baby changing facilities in both the accessible toilet and in the female toilets adjacent to the cafe in the museum.
Designated mobility parking is available directly by the main doors of the eastern carpark at the back of the museum, or in the front carpark by the main entrance.
There are also several wheelchairs available – please ask at the admission desk.
