Klepper Two Seater Kayak
Did you know the NZSAS used ‘stealth’ kayaks? Our NZSAS soldiers can parachute in, ride in, blend in, and even paddle in, behind enemy lines!
This model of folding kayak (the Classic Quattro II) was the official “stealth” kayak of NATO forces from 1953 until 2010. It was used by the NZ Special Air Service (SAS) to perform waterborne insertions behind enemy front lines.
The Klepper two seater kayak is a folding kayak with a black rubberised hull framed with plywood. It has a green canvas top and includes a green rubberised splash cover. The kayak is five metres long and just shy of 1m (90cm) at the widest point. The vessel could be fitted with a mounted machine gun. Now that would be a sight!
These boats came out of service in 2012, and we are thrilled to have one in our collection.
