Important Update: Entryway Project 2017

30/05/17

Temporary Closure of Archives and Library: Due to major construction work the Kippenberger Military Archives and Research Library will be closed to the public for approximately eight weeks commencing 30/05/17. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage any research queries to be submitted through our online enquiry form. Throughout this period library and archives staff will remain available for visitor enquiries at the museum upon request at reception.

The Kippenberger Military Archive holds material that relates to the military museum’s function as a national centre for military studies. The date range of the military museum material is from 1840 to the present day, and covers all theatres of war the New Zealand Army has been involved in, including peackeeping missions.

Military Archive Collections

The archive is fortunate to hold an extensive collection of manuals and pamphlets, dating back to the 19th century and from countries including Britain, America, Australia, Germany, Russia, Japan, Italy and of course, New Zealand.
