March 2013 and the National Army Museum received a further donation cheque raised by the Ex Servicemen’s South Island Golf Tournament held annually at Burnham Camp.
The first tournament played in October 1980 was a “one-off”, however it proved so successful that 33 years later, it is still being played. The only year failing to “tee-off” was in 2011 as a result of the devastating earthquakes in Christchurch with the golfers contributing a substantial amount toward the Earthquake Relief Funds.
The funds raised to date for the Museum total in excess of $235,000.
Attendees have varied over the years with a high of 180 players in 1989 to 91 golfers attending in March 2013.
The Museum wishes to sincerely thank the organising committee who dedicate much time and energy into organising this annual charity event.
