This programme is for the following year groups: Year 1-3 , Year 4-6, Year 7-8, Year 9-10, Year 11-13.

Develop an understanding of the Māori New Year and how and why it is celebrated in New Zealand. Ākonga will be able to make connections between people, places and things in their world, gaining an understanding of the physical significance of the nine stars of Matariki, the sighting of the new moon, and the ways in which Māori New Year is celebrated in Aotearoa today.
