Enjoy an exhilarating ride on the National Army Museum’s M548 Tracked Cargo Carrier – a military vehicle with a difference. This tank-like all-terrain carrier is amphibious so it can travel through water, and its tracks enable it to negotiate extremely challenging landscapes.
The M548 was developed in 1966 as a general purpose military transport vehicle, intended to carry cargo or ammunition during conflict. In its day it held a .50 calibre machine gun which was mounted over the drivers cab with 300 rounds of ammunition.
About The All Terrain Vehicle Ride
Groups of up to 12 people are taken on a 10 minute adrenaline-packed journey through the unforgiving terrain of Ngamatea Swamp behind the National Army Museum. The M548 negotiates steep, muddy slopes and thick swamp water with ease, but be prepared for a bumpy ride!
The M548 Tracked Vehicle Ride can be enjoyed by people of all ages – kids and adults alike. Due to the terrain, the ride may not be suitable for very small kids or people with certain medical conditions. See Conditions.
The M548 Tracked Vehicle Ride is available to booked groups and during the school holiday weekdays the general public (subject to vehicle serviceability). The ride costs $10 per person (School Groups $8 per person).
