Pre European Maori Weapons
Taiaha, Mere and Patu were all examples of pre European Maori weapons. They were hand held weapons, the Maori did not have or use projectile weapons (e.g. bows and arrows) and so all fighting was hand to hand fighting directly with your opponent. The weapons are made from local resources i.e. greenstone, wood, bone and stone.
